Kalashtami on 30 May, 2024: Date, Time, Puja Rituals and Significance

Kalashtami is an auspicious day, which is dedicated to honour Lord Kaal Bhairav. This day holds an immense religious significance among Hindus. Kalashtami falls every month during Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha. This month, Kalashtami Vrat is being observed in the month of Jyestha i.e., on May 30, 2024. Jyestha month is also an auspicious month to perform various puja rituals.

Kalashtami has a great religious significance in Hindu religion as this day is dedicated to worship Lord Kaal Bhairav. He is one of the most fiercest manifestation of Lord Shiva and worshipped widely across the country. He is one of the most compassionate God who bless the devotees with protection and well being. He is also known as Danda Pani, Kshetrapaal who is worshipped by a large number of devotees and they light a diya in the name of Keshtrapaal on every festival and whenever auspicious events happen in their life. Kshetrapaal referred as the one who protects the area. During Holi, Diwali or any other major events, people visit the nearby temple or under a peepal tree or any crossroad, where they light a diya and offer some sweets to show gratitude for taking care the area as well as their home.
It is believed that Lord Kaal Bhairav removes all types of bad elements such as greed, lust, anger and attachment and also he is the remover of evil spirits, negativity and evil energy. Even those who are suffering from black magic, they must perform puja to Lord Kaal Bhairav on every Kalashtami to get rid of these problems.
1. Wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath.
2. Take a wooden plank and place an idol of Lord Kaal Bhairav or Lord Shiva.
3. Take a sankalp of observing fast.
4. Light a diya with mustard oil and offer orchid flowers.
5. Recite Kaal Bhairav Ashtakam and seek blessings of Kaal Bhairav.
6. Visit temple and offer Sweet Rot which is a special bhog prasad for Kaal Bhairav.
7. Many devotees also offer liquor and pray him to fulfill their wishes.
8. In the evening, again light a diya and offer him bhog prasad that can be anything - Malpua, Poode, sweet rott and gram flour halwa.
9. Offer prayers by chanting various Bhairav Mantra.
10. Break their fast by having sattvik food.
