NEW DELHI: The Axiom-4 Space Mission, which will carry Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla along with three other crew members, is scheduled to be launched on May 29, according to a spokesperson.
The announcement was made by the Axiom Space at a press conference on Tuesday.
This mission is expected to mark a significant milestone in India's space exploration efforts, with Shukla becoming a part of the international team of astronauts embarking on this mission.
Captain Shubhanshu Shukla from the Indian Air Force is all set to become the first Indian to visit the International Space Station (ISS).
Rakesh Sharma's iconic spaceflight onboard Russia's Soyuz spacecraft was four decades ago — now, Shubhanshu Shukla is set to follow as he heads to space aboard Axiom-4.
Other crew members
Accompanying Shubhanshu Shukla on the Axiom-4 space mission will be Sławosz Uznański from Poland, who will become the second Polish astronaut since 1978, and Tibor Kapu from Hungary, the second Hungarian astronaut since 1980. The mission will be commanded by Peggy Whitson, a veteran American astronaut who already holds the record for the longest cumulative time spent in space by any American and will now lead her second commercial human spaceflight.
