Rishabh Pant created a lighthearted moment on the third day of the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai by suggesting a field placement to opposition captain Najmul Shanto, who followed his advice. India opted not to enforce the follow-on after dismissing Bangladesh for 149 and resumed their second innings on Saturday at 81 for 3, leading by 308 runs.

Rishabh Pant is the kind of character that world cricket needs. The India wicketkeeper-batsman, who remains chirpy whether standing behind the stumps or in front, created another lighthearted moment on the third day of the opening Test against Bangladesh in Chennai.
Shortly after play started on the third morning at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Pant noticed a little confusion among the opposition about where to move the fielder, and he decided to help skipper Najmul Shanto.
1x1 polls

"Arre idhar aayega ek...bhai, ek idhar, one fielder here, mid-wicket," Pant was caught saying on the stump microphone. Interestingly, Shanto and the bowler decided exactly that thereafter, putting a fielder at mid-wicket.

The commentators on air couldn't help but laugh about Pant's sense of humour. This is Pant's first Test match since his horrific car accident in December 2022.
Pant, who made 39 in the first innings, resumed his knock in India's second innings at 12 not out on Saturday, while batting with Shubman Gill who was on 33.

India, who scored 376 in their first innings, decided not to enforce the follow-on after dismissing Bangladesh for just 149.
The hosts resumed their second innings at 81 for 3 on Saturday, leading by 308 runs.
