Rakshitha Rai, captain of Coastalwood Queen's told reporters that it is an exciting development for women to showcase their cricketing skills in the very same year that IPL governing body has introduced women's cricket in this T20 event.
Sandeep Shetty, team owner of Coastalwood Queens, who launched the team jersey said CPL is an interesting event that features all stakeholders of the fledgling Tulu film industry aka Coastalwood, who set aside their professional commitments for three-days and bond over a game of cricket. Introduction of women's cricket to CPL, albeit as a promotional match, will certainly get more women play in this format of the game in future, he said.
Lauding Sandeep Shetty for 'taking the risk' to own a women's cricket team, Rakshitha said the promotional match should be interesting in that women passionate about the game will display their talent before a full house of Coastalwood biggies. "We (Coastalwood Queens) have been practicing hard to come up with a decent performance and have received support from the coaching staff of Challenging Stars owned by Sandeep," he noted.
