MCA to honour Prof Ratnakar Shetty with 'Lifetime Achievement Award for Administration'

The Mumbai Cricket Association will commend Prof Ratnakar Shetty and Pravin Barve with 'Lifetime Achievement Awards' for their service to cricket. Iconic players Dilip Vengsarkar and Diana Edulji will also be honored. Players Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, Mohit Avasthi, and Tanush Kotian will receive awards for their performances. Maharashtra governor CP Radhakrishnan will be the chief guest.

MUMBAI: The Mumbai Cricket Association will honour veteran cricket administrator Prof Ratnakar Shetty with the 'Lifetime Achievement Award for Administration' at its annual prize distribution function on Thursday evening at the MCA's Sharad Pawar Indoor Academy Ground in BKC. Once the secretary of the MCA, Shetty served for a long time as a senior administration staffer at the BCCI later. The MCA will also honour its ex-secretary Pravin Barve, founder member of Bandra's MIG Club, with the 'Lifetime Achievement Award for Administration, acknowledging "his dedicated service to Mumbai cricket."
The MCA will honour former India captains-Dilip Vengsarkar (men) and Diana Edulji (women's) with the 'Lifetime Achievement Award' too. The MCA will give awards for two seasons-2022-23 & 2023-24. India's Test opener Yashasvi Jaiswal will receive the award for 'Best Senior Cricketer of the Year 2022-23' while Sarfaraz Khan will receive the award for the Best Ranji Trophy Cricketer of the Year for that season. For the 2023-24 season, seamer Mohit Avasthi will receive the 'Best Senior Cricketer of the Year' award, while off-spinning allrounder Tanush Kotian will receive the award for the Best Ranji Trophy Cricketer of the Year.

In a letter to Shetty, MCA secretary Abhay Hadap, while informing Shetty of the award and inviting him for the function, has written, "Your remarkable leadership, vision, and tireless dedication have made a lasting impact, and we are delighted to recognize your achievements with the 'Lifetime Achievement Award for Administration.' During this special event, we will celebrate the countless ways in which your expertise has shaped the administration field and inspired those who have had the privilege of working with you. Your presence at this event would be a true honour, and we look forward to celebrating your remarkable journey."
The awards will be given away by Maharashtra governor CP Radhakrishnan, who will be the chief guest on the occasion. Former MCA president Ashish Shelar, currently the minister of information technology and cultural affairs, govt of Maharashtra, will be the guest of honour.
