NEW DELHI: Due to low sight and excessive pollution levels reported by air quality monitors, the toss in the first Test match between Pakistan and the West Indies at Multan was delayed on Friday.

Pakistan frequently experiences winter pollution, which has detrimental effects on health.

"The visibility has been affected due to fog so the toss has been delayed," Pakistan Cricket Board said in a statement.

"Once the visibility improves the two umpires will inspect the conditions."

According to monitoring site IQAir, the air quality in Multan was "unhealthy for sensitive groups" and was expected to get worse throughout the day.

In the third cycle of the World Test Championship (2023-2025), which includes the two-match Test series, Pakistan is ranked eighth, while the West Indies are ranked ninth and last.
