Aston Martin dropped a pleasant surprise on Thursday by sharing pictures of Adrian Newey with F1 driver Fernando Alonso. Fans had been eagerly waiting for a ray of hope for Alonso, who has been struggling with his car’s pace this season. The fresh pictures suggest that Newey may have finally come to the rescue of the AMR25 drivers, who are growing increasingly frustrated with the car’s underperformance on track.

The official X page of Aston Martin shared two photos of Fernando Alonso and the team’s new Managing Technical Partner, Adrian Newey, with the caption: “Foundations for the future.” One of the photos shows them posing on either side of the Aston Martin F1 car.
Aston Martin further stirred excitement by replying to fans on X. When one user asked in Spanish, “Come on, man! Newey, make a winning car for the Nano, please, we beg you,” the team replied, “Message received.” Could this mean Newey will finally step in to help Alonso and Lance Stroll resolve the issues plaguing the AMR25? Or is the response for the 2026 car?

Many fans and followers of the team expressed their enthusiasm about Newey’s potential involvement. One person wrote, “I hope this means Adrian will have some input in the current car. At least to set the right path and start fighting for points this season.” Another tweeted, “We have to improve the car.” An Alonso fan added, “Make him a car that lives up to his name, for God's sake, I love you more than my father.” One more fan exclaimed, “YOU'RE GOING TO DO IT. GO FOR IT.”
However, the pictures don’t confirm whether Newey will be involved in fixing the current F1 car. Aston Martin boss Andy Cowell told the media including Motorsport Week in Jeddah, “100 percent of Adrian’s designing time is focused on 2026.”

When asked about Newey not contributing to the current car, Cowell said, “I think ultimately it’s his decision. He has enough experience, knowledge and background to know what is best. And I think he’s working only on 2026, so if he’s deciding that, I totally support that.”
