Ronda Rousey, former UFC champion, is training with Cat Zingano, sparking speculation about a potential return to MMA. Ronda Rousey might be done with MMA—but MMA fans aren’t done with her. The former UFC champion, who walked away from the sport after back-to-back losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes, has kept her distance from the Octagon for years. She’s been open about her struggles with neurological trauma and her rocky relationship with the UFC fanbase. But despite her insistence that she’s not making a comeback, Rousey has been dropping breadcrumbs that keep the speculation alive.
Her latest Instagram post added fuel to the fire, showing her training with former rival Cat Zingano in a surprising turn of events. The footage, which she described as helping her “get moving again,” has fans buzzing about whether she could be eyeing one last run in the cage.

Could Ronda Rousey’s Training Footage Signal a Return to the Octagon?

In the Instagram clip, Ronda Rousey can be seen rolling with Zingano, working on her grappling. It was a surprising sight, given that the two once faced off for the bantamweight title in 2014 at UFC 184, with Rousey winning in just 14 seconds via armbar. Now, years later, Zingano is playing a role in Rousey’s return to training.
“Some wall flow with [Cat Zingano] – thank you for helping to get me moving again,” Rousey wrote. “I’ve never felt more stiff, fragile or slow but god I missed it.”

It’s not the first time Rousey has hinted at a rekindled love for combat sports. After giving birth, she shared that she was training to rebuild her postpartum body, showing glimpses of her workouts. While she’s made it clear that her history of concussions makes an MMA comeback unlikely, her actions continue to tell a different story.
Rousey left MMA abruptly after her losses, later pivoting to WWE before parting ways with the promotion. While she’s kept herself busy, fans never stopped wondering if she’d fight again. In 2023, rumors linked her to a potential showdown with Gina Carano, though nothing materialized.
As of now, Rousey maintains that she’s content in retirement. But if the UFC comes knocking, it’s hard to say whether she’d keep that door shut for good.
