The Los Angeles Lakers have always had the biggest stars on their roster, including NBA legends like LeBron James, Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, and more. More often than not, they’ve had more than one big personality on the team. Whenever that happens, it is a given that there will always be clashes. The same has been revealed by Lakers insider Jovan Buha.
Here’s what Buha had to say while talking about the altercations that take place in the Lakers’ locker room:
“Players would get into heated verbal disagreements a lot more. It can even be internal beef sometimes. You'd never know it, and it's something that's escalating. Ultimately it goes away, but the internal communication can be a bit rougher than the cliche of locker room talk. There's a certain connotation in terms of talking about certain guys talk about, but I also think there is an element of confrontation and aggression in terms of how guys communicate.”
Are the Los Angeles Lakers beefing with each other?
While the current Lakers roster doesn’t seem to have any beef with each other, the same can’t be said about their teams from the past. It is well documented that Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard often clashed during their time with the Lakers.
Furthermore, Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant also used to have a lot of clashes, even though they won three championships during their time together. However, this isn’t something that is limited to the Lakers.
For example, Kevin Durant and Draymond Green were part of the 2017/18 Warriors team, which is one of the greatest teams ever assembled. Despite winning everything possible, the two failed to get along, and the roster eventually broke up because of it. If they had stuck together, Stephen Curry would probably have more than four rings today.
