According to NFL.com reporter Ian Rapaport, this season more than a dozen NFL records have been set by the quarterback of Buffalo Bills, Josh Allen, who is also having a broken left hand. The national media and NFL executives are ready to hand Allen the MVP trophy, and that was before any news broke that his hand was fractured. Allen suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of their Week 1 win against the Arizona Cardinals; he was actually hurt when he hurt his right elbow on his left hand. Despite taping it up, Allen never missed a play.

Josh Allen played a record-breaking season with a broken hand

Josh Allen, though having displayed phenomenal efforts, now has to face the New England Patriots in the next match. With the Bills set up first-and-10 from their own 32, Allen took Cook for a nice gain of 25 yards on a hand-off. Leaving Allen next to Cook during the run made sure the Bills would take this touchdown.

He was a full participant throughout the season but has been reported as still on the injury list from the bye week in Week 12 until Buffalo. Allen used white gloves and tape on his non-throwing hand. "I'm fine," Allen told reporters after the game, adding that he'd undergo X-rays and additional testing. "I'm not a doctor, I just kind of landed on it.”

Allen, who aggravated his left hand in Week 13's Bills win against the 49ers, became the first NFL quarterback to score a passing, rushing, and receiving touchdown in the same game. "I got hit in the not-so-funny bone," Allen said. "It was bad. I don't know if anybody has been hit that hard in the funny bone where it feels like your hand is on fire. That's what it felt like and I just kind of hand no feeling in my fingers for a few plays. Not fun.”

Allen received praise for his unique blend of size, arm strength, speed, running ability, and athleticism, and has been likened to John Elway, Randall Cunningham, Brett Favre, and Cam Newton. He was heavily pursued in the NFL draft for his "raw potential," but criticism of his consistency and accuracy coming out of college had him on the down side.

His scrambling and rushing abilities have also been mentioned as key strengths, particularly given his large size, which makes it tough for defenders to tackle him. Despite a poor offensive line in his rookie year, Allen was able to elude and break tackles to keep plays alive or gain significant yardage on the ground, keeping an otherwise ineffective Buffalo offense moving. He has also been known to jump over defenders, frequently in spectacular fashion, to maintain the momentum of an offense.
