Travis Kelce's Hollywood moment: Why Happy Gilmore 2 was a dream come true
In the newly released trailer, Sandler’s character is seen returning to golf after stepping away from the sport following his dramatic championship win in the original movie. While Netflix has kept the plot under wraps with a cryptic logline that simply states, “Happy Gilmore is back!” the trailer hints at Happy’s struggle to regain his edge as he faces off against some tough PGA opponents. True to form, chaos unfolds as Happy’s unpredictable antics resurface, setting the stage for a hilarious and unpredictable showdown.

Sandler's return to one of his most iconic roles has been a major talking point among fans and critics alike. The sequel reunites Sandler with several familiar faces, including Ben Stiller, Julie Bowen, and Christopher McDonald. New additions to the cast include Jacqueline Sophia London, Benny Safdie, and Nick Swardson, adding more star power to an already impressive lineup.
One of the most surprising revelations about Happy Gilmore 2 is the appearance of NFL star Travis Kelce. Kelce, known for his dominance on the football field with the Kansas City Chiefs, has been gradually making a name for himself in the acting world. He previously starred in Ryan Murphy’s FX series Grotesquerie and will also be seen in the upcoming Lionsgate action-comedy Loose Cannons.
Kelce couldn’t hide his excitement about working with Adam Sandler, calling it a “dream come true.” Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, Kelce shared, “I thought SNL was going to be the peak of my acting and showman or entertainment career … working with Happy Gilmore himself, the Sandman and Happy Productions, it was off the chain.”
Reflecting on his experience, Kelce added, “They’re so professional and yet so fun to work with. I felt like I was working with like the Andy Reid of the acting world. [Sandler] is every bit as cool off the screen as he is on the screen. That was a dream come true. That was awesome.” Kelce revealed that he’s featured in “a few scenes” and filmed his part during a bye week from his football commitments, hinting that his role might be more significant than just a brief cameo.
