During a game against the Buccaneers, Chris Godwin, a starting receiver, suffered a serious injury during a tackle by Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith. The replay was not shown, and Godwin was carted off with a vacuum splint on his lower left leg. Mike Evans, who had a hamstring injury earlier in the game, was also injured. The outcome seemed determined, but coach Todd Bowles is second-guessed for not waving the white flag and inserting backups. The Buccaneers were attempting to erase a 10-point deficit without enough time.

Chris Godwin, a wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was taken off the field after a game against the Baltimore Ravens, with head coach Todd Bowles stating that the ankle is dislocated and not looking good. Godwin, who had seven catches for 65 yards before an injury, assumed a larger workload due to Mike Evans' hamstring injury. He entered the week with 43 catches, 511 yards, and five touchdowns.
Godwin, a 28-year-old offensive player, played in all 17 games in the 2023 season for the Buccaneers, leading the team with 83 receptions and 1,024 yards. He caught two touchdown passes and added a rushing score, making it his fourth consecutive 1,000-yard campaign. Despite torn ACL and MCL in 2021, Godwin returned to his role as one of Tampa Bay's most important offensive players, appearing in 15 games, recording a career-high 104 catches, 1,023 yards, and three touchdowns.
Godwin, a favorite target of Tom Brady, has a strong relationship with Baker Mayfield, who was signed to a three-year extension in March. If Godwin misses time, star wide receiver Mike Evans, Sterling Shepard, and players like Trey Palmer and Jalen McMillan will be relied upon in the passing attack, with more volume expected from Shepard.
