“We will see if it gets worked out,” UCLA’s deal with QB Nico Iamaleava still not done

American sports media personality Colin Cowherd reported Nico Iamaleava's move to UCLA. Iamaleava's family cites concerns about Tennessee's offense, not money. However, reports suggest Iamaleava might face a pay cut at UCLA. X users are debating the reasons behind the transfer. Some believe UCLA offers a better program. Others question the logic of leaving Tennessee's offensive guru.

American Sports Media Personality Colin Cowherd shared on his X platform on April 17 that Nico Iamaleava is going to UCLA. He continued that Iamaleava’s Family claims it’s not about the money but about Tennessee Football’s offense. Cowherd also mentioned that he wasn’t told what the Bruins were paying. An X user instantly commented on Colin Cowherd’s X post, “Everyone knew he was going to UCLA when you said this yesterday - the X user shared a 2-second clip of Cowherd saying, “UCLA doesn’t have the money.” Another X user said, “Would be a huge signing for UCLA football. School needs to make a splash.”

A new report says that the deal between quarterback Nico Iamaleava and UCLA is still pending

“We will see if it gets worked out. He’s extremely talented, with starting experience against elite competition. That’s sort of where we are right now.” a source from UCLA shared with ESPN. UCLA was content to sit tight while Iamaleava explored his option, an unnamed UCLA source shared with Low. Mike Florio on Pro Football Talk shared that if Nico Iamaleava goes to UCLA, he won’t get a deal close to $4 million from them that he expected from Tennessee Football. Iamaleava was earning $2.4 million at Tennessee.

X users flood the X post about QB Nico Iamaleava being transferred from Tennessee Football to UCLA

On3 Sports shared, “NEW: Tennessee transfer QB Nico Iamaleava to UCLA is a done deal, per Colin Cowherd👀 “Family still claims it’s NOT about the money. It’s about the Vol Football offense.” The X post of On3 Sports boasts 3.2 million views! One X user commented, “Wish the best for the kid & Family, but this is a head-scratcher. Heupel is one of the best offensive gurus in the country. Also, confused because the dad indicated that Nico would be receiving a massive pay raise, yet every recent report claims he’s taking a pay cut.”

Another wrote, “Congratulations to him. UCLA is a better program than Tennessee with better NIL and coaching.” A third X user wrote, “if it’s about the offense, then it makes a lot of sense.” A fourth X user said, “Yeah. You leave Tennessee because of the “offense” and go to UCLA 👍” A fifth X user said, “Good decision, young man. Big upgrade from Tennessee. Tennessee didn’t give you the right weapons and offensive line to succeed.”
