Rookie Bucky Irving has gotten a lot of hype this season as the newest addition to Tampa Bay running backs. He's one of many new players to look out for in the backfield, though. Sean Tucker, who had spent most of his time on the field as a member of special teams during the first five games, seized his opportunity when Rachaad White sat out injured.
A Breakout Performance
Tucker was the most he could be given his opportunity in last weekend's game against New Orleans. He participated in significant minutes, running 14 times for 136 yards and one touchdown. He also had three more catches for 56 yards and another score. Buccaneers win on an easy 51-27 ticket, and quarterback Baker Mayfield had high praise for Tucker, saying he showed "more than just the next man up mentality." Tucker reflected on the performance, simply stating it was "a testament to all the hard work" he's put in since signing as an undrafted rookie last year.

How NFL Players InvestSeize the Moment
“Whatever opportunity I had, I wanted to make the most of it," Tucker said, as quoted by Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. "I wasn't focused on touches. I just wanted to do the best I could." That determination worked its way into his game because he did nothing wrong on the field and proved himself in a much deeper backfield, getting fans and coaches salivating over what may be in store for his future.
The Future Awaits
Tucker's impressive performance goes to show the depth in the running game of the Buccaneers and how the team can approach several players competing for playing time. The added competition will surely push Tucker to great heights as the battles on the road to the starting position give several stories throughout the season. The stage for such a dynamic in the backfield becomes interesting when the season unfolds, especially so, given Tucker making good at the very moment that was most needed.
As the new names make ripples in Tampa, fans are excited to see what these players will be able to bring to the moulding of the future of their team. Could it be that the Bucs finally found their real treasure in Tucker?.
