In a recent update, it was revealed that Dragunov sustained an injury during a match with Gunther this past weekend and he is expected to be out of the ring for six to nine months.
WWE extended their wish for Dragunov’s speedy recovery but Gunther responded with a brutal jibe at the superstar saying, “Weak things break.”

It is suspected that Dragunov has suffered a torn ACL and the WWE medical team has confirmed that he will be out of action for a while.
Dragunov had the NXT Championship to his credit in 2023. In 2024 he was promoted to the main roster during WWE Draft. The 30-year-old competed in the King of the Ring tournament to beat Ricochet in the first round but eventually lost to Jey Uso in the quarterfinals.
As for Gunther, he has recently said yes to
Sami Zayn’s long-time appeal for a title shot at the World Heavyweight Championship. Notably, Zayn previously defeated Gunther to end his glorious 666 days of Intercontinental title reign. "Losing to you has been the biggest embarrassment of my career!" Gunther said on the latest episode of Raw while accepting the challenge from Zayn.
However, Zayn’s path to the title shot was not easy as Gunther previously denied his appeal multiple times even after defeating the Ring General’s long-time partner, Ludwig Kaiser. Finally, he accepted the challenge but with a beatdown delivered on Zayn as he is looking to redeem his “biggest embarrassment.”
Zayn and Gunther will go one-on-one on Raw next week.
