WWE SmackDown in Bologna, Italy, was a memorable night of jam-packed in-ring action and a huge face-off between the top three WWE stars in the main event segment of the night.
WWE continued on their European tour this week, presenting the March 21st edition of SmackDown from the Unipol Arena in Bologna, Italy. It was another exciting night with a loud and passionate crowd that witnessed more build-up to WrestleMania 41, memorable moments, and explosive in-ring action.
Randy Orton's segment
Randy Orton opened the show with a huge ovation from the crowd in Italy. Before he could speak, he was interrupted by Kevin Owens, who seemingly apologized for injuring Orton. The Viper did not buy into his words, but KO claimed that what he did to Orton was wrong. He proposed both men to team to challenge for the WWE tag team titles at WrestleMania 41, but instead, Randy Orton was more interested in taking him down at WrestleMania, hinting at a possible match.
Damian Priest and Jimmy Uso vs Shinsuke Nakamura and Drew McIntyre
Damian Priest went straight to attack Drew McIntyre before the match began with Jimmy Uso and Shinsuke Nakamura also getting involved. The action went back and forth between both teams as they collided in the ring. In the end, Damian Priest delivered a South of Haven chokeslam on Nakamura to pick up the win. Following the match, Drew McIntyre attacked him from behind.
Jacob Fatu vs Braun Strowman
This was an absolute clash of the titans with a United States title match on the line. Both dominant competitors displayed a classic showdown of absolute mayhem and chaos in their match. Th action was going strong until Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga to attack Braun Strowman to cause a disqualification until LA Knight rushed to the ring to even the odds. But it ended with LA Knight and Strowman staring off as they are set to compete for Knight's US title next week on SmackDown.
Piper Niven vs Zelina Vega
The match was made after Zelina Vega announced her intentions to challenge for Chelsea Green's US title last week. Despite the size disadvantage, Zelina put up a great effort against the imposing Piper Niven. But the outside interference by Alba Fyre and Chelsea Green led to Piper Niven delivering a running crossbody to pick up the win.
Jade Cargill vs Liv Morgan
This was Jade Cargill's first match since being attacked by Naomi months ago on SmackDown. Both women went back and forth against each other, although, Liv Morgan had Raquel Rodriguez by her side. Moreover, Naomi also interfered and knocked down Jade Cargill with the tag team title belt. This led to Liv Morgan hitting the Oblivion to pick up the win. Following that, Naomi came into the ring to attack Jade Cargill.
The Street Profits vs Los Garza
The match began after The Street Profits celebrated their tag team title win last week and finally capturing gold after four years. Los Garza displayed a good performance against the new champions in their bid to earn a title opportunity in the future. But it was the Profits tag team combination moves and a Seven-Star Frog Splash by Montez Ford on Angel to pick up the win.
Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins & CM Punk segment
All three top WWE stars were in the building at the same time. Roman Reigns came out to address his return and attacking Seth Rollins and CM Punk. Rollins then came down and claimed that Punk was dangerous for the business and Reigns should have had let finish him on RAW. Punk came out last and revealed that Paul Heyman's favor that he was owed and that was bringing Roman Reigns to him. It started an all out brawl between the three and ending SmackDown on a chaotic note with the brawling still continuing as the show went off the air.
