Pokemon Go developer Niantic is bringing its Wayfarer Challenge to India. This event will allow Pokemon Go trainers to earn exclusive in-game rewards by evaluating Wayspot nominations. The challenge will take place on the Niantic Wayfarer platform, where users can review and evaluate real-life locations that can become PokeStops and Gyms in Pokemon Go. Pokemon Go trainers in India can participate in the Wayfarer Challenge between March 10 and March 12. Apart from India, this event will also be available in Chile, where trainers can participate in the event between March 7 and March 9.
Pokemon Go Wayfarer Challenge: What is it and how to participate
Niantic Wayfarer is a platform that will allow Pokemon Go trainers to nominate real-world locations as Wayspots, which appear in the game as PokéStops and Gyms. Trainers can nominate landmarks, street art, sculptures, or other notable structures directly through the PokeStop Contributions section in Pokémon GO.
Once nominations are submitted, users can visit the Niantic Wayfarer portal to review and vote on nominations from their region. Approved Wayspots will enhance gameplay by providing new locations for in-game interactions.
The Wayfarer Challenge will also reward trainers when nomination goals are achieved. At Level 1, when 5,000 Wayspot nominations are resolved during the challenge, each participating trainer earns rewards such as Ultra Balls, a Star Piece, an Incense, and a Poffin. At Level 2, with 10,000 resolved nominations, rewards increase to include additional Ultra Balls, Star Pieces, Incense, Poffins, and a Lucky Egg.
Participation requires trainers to be at least level 37 and to have a Niantic Wayfarer account, with new users completing a Wayfarer Orientation to learn the evaluation criteria. In regions like Chile and India, trainers must either have recently played Pokemon Go in those countries or set their home or bonus location accordingly.
