Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg praised Elon Musk’s rival platform X's Community Notes system during Meta's Q4 2024 earnings call, acknowledging it as superior to Meta's previous fact-checking program.

"I'm not afraid to admit when someone does something that's better than us," Zuckerberg said during the call. "I think the community notes system like what X has had for a while is actually just more effective than what we were doing before."

The comments came as Meta defended its recent decision to end its third-party fact-checking program in the United States. CFO Susan Li assured investors that the change hasn't impacted advertiser spending, though specific figures weren't disclosed.

Zuckerberg pushed back against criticism that abandoning fact-checking meant Meta was no longer interested in fighting misinformation. "That's not right," he said. "I think our product is going to get better because of it."
