Author Stephen King made a brief return to X (formerly Twitter) before quickly shifting his focus back to Threads – a similar micro-blogging platform owned by Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta. King, who has been critical of the platform’s direction under Elon Musk, received a response on his post from the Tesla CEO.

“I’m baaaack! Did you miss me?”, King said in a post.

Musk responded, “I did tbh”

King did not respond to Musk but criticised him and President Donald Trump in a separate post before returning to Threads.

“Just wanted to say that Trump is a traitorous, Putin-loving dipshit!,” King said, adding, “Goes double for Elon!”

King left X in November 2024

King is among a list of Hollywood celebrities who have left the platform citing toxicity.

“I'm leaving Twitter. Tried to stay, but the atmosphere has just become too toxic. Follow me on Threads, if you like,” he said in November last year.

He also denied rumours that Musk kicked him out from X.

“I see there's a rumor going around that I called the Musk-man Trump's new first lady. I didn't, but only because I didn't think of it,” King said, referring to Al-generated Musk memes that portrayed the Tesla CEO as First Lady of the US.
