Instagram messages outage: Countries hit and how users reacted on social media

Instagram messages are reportedly down. As per thousands of complaints, the Meta-owned platform’s direct Message feature is experiencing problems, affecting users across the globe, including India. Instagram users took to X (formerly Twitter) to report the ongoing outage.
Downdetector, the crowd-sourced outage tracking platform, also shows reports from users in India, the US and the UK, among others.

In India, the number of reports peaked at around 6 pm with about 1,550 reports (48% App, 27% Sharing, 25% Server Connection), which gradually decreased. At the time of writing, members of the Times of India Tech team did not experience any sort of problem in exchanging messages over Instagram.
Meanwhile, the US registered around 900 (61% App, 26% Server Connection, 14% Sharing) peak complaints and the UK registered about 2,300 peak complaints (75% App, 19% Sharing and 6% Uploading).
