Flipkart ends ‘work from home’ policy, calls employees back to office 5 days a week; says: ‘By returning to office …’
Walmart-owned Flipkart has officially terminated its work-from-home policy, requiring all employees to return to office five days a week. The company, which had allowed remote work since the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020, is now implementing a full return-to-office mandate across all functions and roles.
According to MoneyControl, Flipkart has been gradually rolling back its remote work policy, initially requiring only senior executives at the vice president level and above to work from the office regularly. The transition to full-time office work will occur in phases over the coming months, with some exceptions based on job requirements.
"By returning to office, we aim to foster a strong sense of community for new hires and existing employees; and a shared focus on our common goal," a Flipkart spokesperson stated. The company also confirmed that employees will be allowed a limited number of work-from-home days.

Amazon, Meesho, Blinkit, and Zepto all have employees working from office

Flipkart is among the last major e-commerce companies in India to eliminate remote work options. Competitors including Amazon, Meesho, Blinkit, and Zepto have already implemented five-day in-office policies. Amazon recently mandated all employees return to its Bengaluru office and is relocating from World Trade Centre in Rajajinagar to Devanahalli to accommodate its workforce.
Swiggy remains the only major player in the quick commerce space maintaining a hybrid model, with most employees working three days in office and two days remotely, though certain teams work in-office full-time based on job requirements.
