Infosys co-founder and former CEO Kris Gopalakrishnan among 18 booked under SC/ST Act in Karnataka

Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan, along with 17 others, has been implicated under the SC/ST Atrocities Act in Karnataka following a complaint by Durgappa, a former IISc faculty member. Durgappa alleges wrongful dismissal and caste-based abuse. Gopalakrishnan, renowned for his contributions to the tech industry, has not yet responded to these allegations.

Infosys co-founder and former CEO Senapathy Kris Gopalakrishnan has been named in a case filed under the Prevention of SC/ST Atrocities Act in Karnataka, as reported by news agency PTI. The case was registered at the Sadashiva Nagar police station following directions from the 71st city civil and sessions court (CCH). Gopalakrishnan is accused along with former IISc Director Balaram and 16 other individuals.
The 16 people named in the case include Govindan Rangarajan, Sridhar Warrier, Sandya Vishwswaraih, Hari K V S, Dasappa, Balaram P, Hemalata Mhishi, Chattopadyaya K, Pradeep D Sawkar, and Manoharan.

Allegations against former Infosys CEO


The complaint was made by Durgappa, a faculty member from the tribal Bovi community who had worked at the Centre for Sustainable Technology at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Durgappa claimed that in 2014, he was wrongfully implicated in a honey trap case, leading to his dismissal from service. He further alleged that he was subjected to caste-based abuse and threats.
As per the report, there has been no immediate response from Kris Gopalakrishnan.

Who is Kris Gopalakrishnan


Gopalakrishnan holds master’s degrees in physics and computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. Kris is a Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineers (INAE) and an Honorary Fellow of Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) of India.
He is one of the co-founders of Infosys and served as the vice chairman of Infosys from 2011 to 2014 and the chief executive officer and managing director of Infosys from 2007 to 2011. Kris was elected president of India's apex industry chamber Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for 2013-14 and also served as one of the co-chairs of the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2014.
In January 2011, he was awarded Padma Bhushan, the country’s third-highest civilian honor. Kris serves on the Board of Governors of Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST), is the Chairman, The Council, IISc Bangalore, and is the Chairman, Board of Governors of IIIT, Bangalore. He is the Chairman of the Vision Group on Information Technology of Karnataka Government, the Chairman of RBIH (Reserve Bank of India Innovation Hub) and the Chairman of CII Centre of Excellence in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Start-ups (CIES).
