YouTube has announced that it is rolling out over two dozen updates designed to enhance the viewing and creation experience across web, mobile TV and YouTube Music. These improvements include a fine-tuning playback speed feature for more precise control, navigation in landscape mode, bigger text on mobile devices as well as some visual refinements. Here are the key improvements coming to YouTube and YouTube Music.
YouTube getting an improved miniplayer
Viewers will be able to resize and move the miniplayer for better multitasking while watching videos. With this feature, they will be able to keep browsing while watching and adding videos to the queue without interrupting playback.
Collaborative Playlists coming to YouTube on TV
Viewers will be able to invite friends and family to contribute to playlists via links or QR codes (coming to TV). Further, the playlists can be personalised with custom thumbnails using photos or AI-generated images.
To generate a thumbnail with AI, tap "Create with AI," pick a theme, and choose from the AI-powered creations. These updates are coming across mobile, web, TVs, and YouTube Music.
YouTube Sleep Timer
Starting today (October 15), the Google-owned company is introducing Sleep Timer, which lets users set a timer to automatically pause videos after a certain duration of time.
“We tested this feature with our Premium members earlier this year to rave reviews. And we’re now excited to make it available to all our users on YouTube across mobile devices,” YouTube said.
Refreshed user interface on YouTube for TV
YouTube also announced a refreshed user interface with a more cinematic feel for immersive viewing. There will also be a new Shorts interface on TV for seamless interaction with comments and shopping without interrupting playback.
