Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is an emotional experience for millions of admirers. Over the years, the show has greatly entertained us, and there is always a desire to learn about some lesser-known tidbit or trivia about the show. Today, we'll discuss some intriguing trivia regarding a hilarious line that has cemented its place in meme culture.
Those who have been watching TMKOC since the beginning will recall that Jethalal (Dilip Joshi) used to say "Ae pagal aurat (Crazy woman)" whenever he was irritated with Daya (Disha Vakani). This line was an improvisation, not part of the script, and Dilip had no idea it would become a meme.
In a special podcast with Sorabh Pant, Dilip Joshi said, "Yeh jo 'paagal aurat' wala tha, woh maine improvise kiya." On set, I improvised the 'paagal aurat' phrase based on how Daya reacted. There was a scenario on set, and the way Dayaben reacted let it fall out of my mouth during filming the scene)." Unbeknownst to the creators, the line became a tremendous success, and whenever viewers remember the humorous banter between Dilip and Disha, they recall this funny line.
Unfortunately, despite its popularity, "Ae pagal aurat" was banned from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah due to an objection. During the same podcast, Dilip Joshi stated that one women's movement objected to the dialogue, believing it was insulting to women.
Dilip Joshi recounted, "Baad mein, uspe kuch women's lib ya koi movement tha, mujhe bataya gaya, 'Aage se, aap yeh nahi bolenge' (later, there was some women's liberation movement or something, and I was told never to repeat it again)."
As a result, the popular Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah line was eventually outlawed. We bet many fans were unaware of this truth.
