Taking some time off from her shoot schedule,
Rupali Ganguly went Diwali shopping with us in Mumbai. “For me, Diwali shopping means going to Mahim and Dadar,” says the Anupamaa actress as she buys diyas, lanterns and latkans from Mahim Kandil Galli. Rupali tells us that she is working on most of the days in the Diwali week this year. “I was shooting on Dhanteras as well, but I left a bit early to go shopping again. I am not working on October 31, but I will have to be at work again the next day for some time,” she says. ‘
I LOVE MAKING RANGOLI, AND LIGHTING DIYAS’ Diwali is synonymous with good food and spending time with family for Rupali. “My fondest memories include Rudransh’s (her son) first Diwali. And I love making rangoli, and lighting diyas. I never enjoyed bursting crackers as a kid because I didn’t like the sound. Later, I understood how they are harmful for animals, so I completely stopped the practice,” she says.

If you want to celebrate the festival, give gifts to those who can’t afford it; make it a happy Diwali for those who are less fortunate
‘I BELIEVE IN RECYCLING GIFTS AND GIVING THEM TO THE NEEDY’ While telling us about the items she bought from the market, Rupali elaborates upon her Diwali ideology. “I bought lanterns, diyas and rangoli colours for our Diwali celebration. I believe in recycling gifts and giving them to those in need. If you want to celebrate the festival, give gifts to those who can’t afford it; make it a happy Diwali for those who are less fortunate. And I always say, we must buy local,” she adds.
