Morbi bridge collapse: Corroded cables, mismanagement - SIT report points to omissions, lapses

The SIT report on the Morbi Bridge collapse has revealed major lapses and omissions on the part of the administration and multiple stakeholders. The report says that no corrective actions were taken to improve the condition of the century-old structure. The report said 22 out of 49 cables that suspended the Morbi bridge were already corroded, indicating that those wires 'may have already been broken before the incident'. 'The remaining 27 wires broke recently.' Morbi Bridge Collapse incident claimed 135 lives on October 30 last year.
