‘Wednesday’ set to return in 2025 with new faces and darker themes

Filming for the second season started in early 2024 in Ireland and wrapped up on December 4, 2024. On the same day, Netflix confirmed that the series would indeed return in 2025, ending previous speculation about its future. This uncertainty began when Amazon Prime and MGM signed a large deal, raising questions about whether 'Wednesday' would shift to another streaming platform. However, reports later clarified that Netflix would continue to be the home of the show.
A new promotional poster has already been revealed, showing Jenna Ortega’s 'Wednesday' with tear marks on her face and Thing—the disembodied hand—resting on her shoulder. The poster’s tagline read, “The wait has been torture.” While a trailer has not yet been released, Netflix announced that a teaser will drop on April 23, 2025.
Jenna Ortega will reprise her role as the gothic and witty 'Wednesday' Addams. Returning alongside her are Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley. However, some characters will not return, such as Percy Hynes White. Season 2 will also introduce new characters, including Bruno, Karloff, Wolfgang, and Annie. Veteran actor Steve Buscemi joins the cast as the new school principal, and pop star Lady Gaga will also appear, though her role remains a mystery.
The main storyline for Season 2 is still under wraps, but fans can expect the story to pick up where the first season left off. One key plot point includes a mysterious stalker who had been following Wednesday. There is also speculation that Tyler, who transformed into a monster in Season 1, could return in his dangerous “Hyde” form.
Jenna Ortega shared that the upcoming season would have less romance and more intense scenes, shifting the tone toward horror and emotional depth. She also mentioned that the writers plan to explore supporting characters, like her mother, Morticia, in greater detail.
