His family confirmed the tragic news in a heartbreaking statement shared on Instagram, expressing their shock and sorrow over the Mizuki's sudden demise. In the note, the family also revealed that the news of his demise comes amidst his plans to make a comeback.
In a note addressed to the star's fans, his family began by saying, “We’re very sorry to share that actor Itagaki Mizuki has passed away due to an unfortunate incident,” the statement read.
Extending a note of thanks to all his fans during his brief stint, they said, “To all the fans who supported him with so much warmth, and to everyone who worked with him, we’re truly grateful from the bottom of our hearts.”
According to the statement, Mizuki had been missing since the January 2025, while grappling with mental health issues that had reportedly intensified over the past year. After an extended search, Tokyo police found and identified his body, however, specific details regarding the cause of his death have not been made public.
The family also revealed that Mizuki had been working toward a return to his professional life and had recently shown signs of recovery. “It’s heartbreaking that his life ended like this, something even he probably never expected,” they said.

Just last year, Mizuki Itagaki announced his departure from talent agency Stardust Promotion, along with the closure of his official fan club.
