Agra: A day after a woman provincial civil service (PCS) officer posted in Aligarh alleged she was assaulted and molested for objecting to the beating of stray dogs, an FIR was lodged against her and her husband following a counter-complaint by a local lawyer, police said on Wednesday.
Deputy SP Rajiv Dwivedi said that an FIR had been registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including 191-2 (rioting) and 115-2 (voluntarily causing hurt), based on the lawyer's complaint.
The lawyer alleged that the officer and her husband had been gathering stray dogs outside neighbours' homes and feeding them, leading to repeated dog bites in the locality. He claimed that on April 27, when he objected, the couple abused and threatened him. Later that night, he was allegedly assaulted by them and several unidentified men armed with iron rods, causing serious injuries.
The PCS officer, however, had filed a complaint on Monday, stating that on April 24, the lawyer began hitting stray dogs she was feeding. When she intervened, he allegedly abused her and later returned with others carrying pistols, threatened her, and assaulted her husband and brother.
SHO Bannadevi Pankaj Mishra said investigations are underway on both complaints and appropriate action will be taken accordingly.
