AHMEDABAD: After 44.8 degrees celsius scorcher on Tuesday, the city's maximum temperature came down a notch to 43.5 degrees celsius — 1.9 degrees above normal — on Wednesday.
At 25.8 degrees celsius, the minimum temperature was 0.3 degrees below normal. According to the
India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, the maximum temperature on Thursday is likely to be around 43 degrees celsius.
No large change in maximum temperature is expected in the next three days. Thereafter, a fall by 2-4 degrees is very likely over the region.
For Gujarat, the maximum temperatures are very likely to be in the range of 40-44 degrees celsius on May 1 and 2, the IMD forecast said. The forecast added that coastal areas of the state could experience high heat and humidity.
Amid the scorching heat, several regions are likely to experience unseasonal rain from May 3 onwards.
According to the IMD forecast, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha and Kutch are likely to get light to moderate rain or thundershowers on May 3, and Banaskantha, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Patan, Aravalli, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Bhavnagar, Amreli and Kutch on May 4.
It may also bring the temperatures down in other parts of the state.
At 45.4 degrees celsius, Kandla recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state on Wednesday, followed by 44.5 degrees celsiusin Rajkot, 43.8 degrees celsiusin Amreli, 43.5 degrees celsiusin Ahmedabad and Deesa, and 43.4 degrees celsius in Gandhinagar.
