Chennai: The Tamil Nadu assembly on Monday adopted a resolution condoling the death of eminent cardiac surgeon, K M Cherian.
Speaker M Appavu read the resolution for Cherian, noting the House's shock and deep sadness at his passing. The assembly acknowledged Cherian's provision of world-class treatment. He was lauded for his contributions to cardiac care and the numerous lives he saved. His achievements in the field of cardiology were also highlighted, including being awarded the
Padma Shri.
Obituary references were made on the demise of three former legislators, P R Sundaram (Rasipuram), M Govindarajulu (Rishivandiyam), and V Gunaseelan (Vandavasi).
A two-minute silence was observed in the assembly to honour Cherian and the three former legislators.
