MUMBAI: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has announced the launch of the “Jain Yatra”, a special pilgrimage tour on the Bharat Gaurav AC Tourist Train, to promote domestic tourism and India’s cultural heritage.
The train will depart from Bandra Terminus on Monday, 31 March 2025, offering an eight-night, nine-day spiritual journey for devotees seeking a meaningful travel experience.
Extensive route covering key Jain pilgrimage sites
The meticulously curated itinerary covers an extensive 4,500 km route, taking devotees to revered Jain pilgrimage sites, including Pavapuri, Kundalpur, Guniyaji, Lacchuar, Rajgir, Parasnath, Rujuwalika, and Sammed Shikharji, before returning to Mumbai.
To ensure greater accessibility, the train offers multiple boarding and deboarding options at key stations such as Borivali, Vapi, Valsad, Bhestan (Surat), Bhusawal, Itarasi, Jabalpur, and Satna.
IRCTC’s initiative to promote domestic tourism
Speaking about the launch, IRCTC’s Group General Manager (West Zone), Mumbai, Gaurav Jha said, "Aligned with the Government of India’s “Dekho Apna Desh” and “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” initiatives, the launch of the Jain Yatra underscores efforts to reinvigorate domestic tourism and highlight the country’s spiritual legacy.”
He further stated that the journey is designed to offer not only a sacred pilgrimage but also a comfortable travel experience. The fully air-conditioned 3AC coaches can accommodate up to 750 passengers and are equipped with modern amenities, including an onboard kitchen, CCTV surveillance, and dedicated security personnel.

The all-inclusive tour package, priced at Rs. 24,930 per person, covers a comprehensive range of services, including:
