CHANDIGARH: Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini, who also holds the finance portfolio, presented the state's Rs 2,05,017.29 crore budget for 2025-26.
While reading out the budget in the state assembly, Saini stated that this year, a total of 11 meetings were held with various stakeholders receiving a total of 1,592 suggestions. An online portal was launched on December 10, 2024, to collect suggestions, receiving 8,963 inputs from the public.
“Out of 217 promises in our manifesto, we have fulfilled 19, while 14 are in progress With the approval of today's budget provisions, we aim to fulfil nearly 90 more commitments in the coming financial year.
Key proposals - To make Haryana "future-ready," a new "department of future" will be established, CM added.
Key highlights of CM’s speech
- Over the past 10 years, the Haryana government has emphasized e-governance. - Proposal for Haryana AI Mission with World Bank pledging Rs 474 crore in support.
- ⁠AI hubs to be set up in Gurugram and Panchkula. - The Haryana government will encourage private investors to create a Rs 2,000 crore "Fund of Funds" to boost startups.
- Commitment to Combat Drug Abuse - Proposal to establish SANKALP (Substance Abuse and Narcotics Knowledge Awareness and Liberation Program Authority). Initial allocation of Rs 10 crore for the authority.
-Addressing the "dunki route" migration issue - A bill will be introduced in this session to tackle illegal migration via "dunki routes"
- Haryana Overseas Employment Cell and Haryana Skill & Employment Corporation will facilitate global employment opportunities for youth.
Mission Haryana-2047
- Plan to raise Haryana’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) to $1 trillion. Initial fund allocation of Rs 5 crore for this mission.
-Economic growth over the last decade - Haryana’s GSDP: - Rs 4,37,145 crore in 2014-15→ Rs 12,13,951 crore in 2024-25 (estimated).
-Per Capita Income: - Rs 1,47,382 in 2014-15→ Rs 3,53,182 in 2024-25 (estimated) - In the last 10 years, Haryana’s GSDP grew at an average of 10.8%, and per capita income at 9.1%
-One Model college in every district of the state
-Unapproved industrial units will be regularised
-New model schools at a distance of every 10 km
-Haryana to introduce the French language in state-run schools from class-III
