Guwahati: Hours after the Parliament adopted a statutory resolution, confirming the imposition of President's Rule in Manipur, early on Friday morning, seven Manipur MLAs, consisting of BJP and its allies, met NEDA convenor and Assam CM
Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati.
While BJP MLAs included former ministers L Susindro Meitei and K Govindas Singh, besides Shyamkumar Singh and Kh Ibomcha Singh, National People's Party (NPP) was represented by Shanti Singh and M Rameshwar Singh. Janata Dal (United), a coalition ally in Manipur, was represented by Abdul Nasir at the meeting.
The Manipur delegation was accompanied by the state's BJP general secretary, K Sarat Singh.
However, the details of the brief meeting with Sarma at his office are yet to be disclosed. Sarma, on his part, had so far kept kept himself away from the matters of the strife-torn state.
Earlier, Conrad Sangma's NPP had withdrawn its support from the N Bren Singh-led Manipur govt in November last year, but returned to the coalition fold after Singh resigned.
