‘Nawab chale gaye, nawabi chhod gaye’: Lucknow parcel boy’s post triggers a laughter riot
LUCKNOW: In the era of doorstep delivery, when a Lucknow-based parcel boy himself mocked his assignment to ship a consignment within the same apartment complex, it triggered a laughter riot on social media.
"Yeh Lucknow hai, vichitra log hain yahan…itni aalas bhari hui delivery order, tower 17 se tower 19 mein lejana hai video game…khair complete toh karna he hai (This is Lucknow, people here are weird. Got a lazy order to deliver a soccer video game from Tower 17 to Tower 19 in a residential complex, but still I will have to complete it," says the delivery agent in a short video that has gone viral.
He received Rs 38 for the job. The reel, which was widely shared on social media, triggered a flurry of responses. Some users laughed at the situation and referred to it as a reflection of Lucknow's Nawabi legacy. Others criticised the delivery agent for mocking the customer. Video shot by the delivery agent, showed delivery of a soccer video game from one residential tower to another one – barely a few steps away in the apartment complex.
The video which was posted last Saturday on Instagram, has been amplified on several other social media networks such as Facebook, Linkedin, X, by various users. A user on Linkedin wrote, "Tower 17 guy booked a service to deliver a game CD to Tower 19 flat in the same society. The delivery guy got Rs 38 for this delivery. Service provider, be like - Meri Shaktiyo ka Galat Istemal hua hai Maa."
Another user on X wrote, "Lucknow ke nawab chale gaye, nawabi chhor gaye (There are no more Nawabs in Lucknow, but their nawabi is still prevalent)." To which another X replied, "Nawabi bhi hogi to kya problem hai? There's a platform which provides the service, you pay for it. The reason doesn't matter. Someone is paying, someone is getting paid. Kya dikkat hai?"
Suggesting that delivery between two neighbouring towers may have been triggered by a spat, a user on Instagram wrote: "Un dono ka jhagda hua hoga bhai, game wapas dene ki baat usi din ki hui hogi, wo josh mein aake bola bhijwata hu…(Those two must've had a fight, bro. They probably decided to return the game the same day, and in the heat of the moment, one of them said, ‘I'll send it back)."
By Wednesday, more than 10 lakh people had viewed the video across various platforms.
