Dubai-Kathmandu flight makes emergency landing in Lucknow due to low fuel

LUCKNOW: A flight ferrying 151 passengers along with six crew members from Dubai made an emergency landing at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA), Lucknow, on Wednesday morning, after the Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft pilots squawked 7700 (to communicate with air traffic control regarding emergencies or abnormal circumstances) due to low fuel while holding over Nepal airspace to land at Kathmandu.
The flight made at least five orbits some 50 km south of Kathmandu above Nijgadh as part of delay holding before squawking, and finally flew to CCSIA after ATC clearance.
According to a source, it was not immediately apparent why the aircraft was compelled to hover for an extended period in Nepal airspace, though inclement weather might have been a contributing factor.
“The aircraft diverted to Lucknow, landed at approximately 9.40 am, and after refuelling, departed at 10.17 am. The flight arrived at Kathmandu by 11.14 am,” stated the source.
Airline leaves passengers' luggage at Delhi airport
Several passengers of an airline were left incensed on Tuesday late night, after their air carrier left their luggage at New Delhi airport.
The passengers had boarded a connecting flight from Bhopal, which arrived over one-and-a-half hours late; furthermore, the subsequent flight from Delhi was delayed by an additional hour and landed at 11.35 pm in Lucknow.
The airline staff assured passengers that their luggage would be delivered to their doorstep.
