Lucknow: Sahitya Akademi award winner Jitendra Narayan Dash on Tuesday spoke about the significance of Shree Jagannath temple in Puri, saying, "The colours of Lord Jagannath and his siblings, Balabhadra and Subhadra, hold deep spiritual and symbolic significance in Hindu tradition.
Addressing the audience at Sangeet Natak Akademi in an event organised by Lucknow Odia Samaj on the occasion of Odisha Foundation Day, Dash also referred to the symbolism of the diversity of the universe.
Odisha, a land of history and tradition, celebrated its 90th foundation day on Apr 1. The occasion was marked with pride, celebrating Odisha's cultural richness, deep-rooted traditions and artistic heritage. An Odissi dance choreographed by renowned Odissi dancer Meera Das was organised. Complementing this was a performance of the vibrant Sambalpuri folk dance by Mahesh Kumar Patel, showcasing the state's lively folk traditions and artistic brilliance.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included president of Lucknow Oriya Samaj GB Pattnaik and secretary DR Sahu.
