Heavy vehicle hits two-wheeler, runs over youth
Mumbai: A 23-year-old youth was killed in a hit-and-run accident late Saturday night on the Eastern Express Freeway near Bhakti Park, Wadala East. The Wadala TT police have registered an FIR under sections of BNS for causing death due to negligence, rash driving and under the Motor Vehicles Act against an unidentified driver of a heavy vehicle.
According to the complaint filed by Harsh Santosh Surve (21), a resident of Mahalakshmi Society, Mazgaon, he and his friend, Mayur Harish Singh (23), were returning from Andheri on Harsh's two-wheeler around 11:10pm and were travelling down the Eastern Express Freeway towards Shantinagar when a heavy vehicle hit them from behind near Bhakti Park Mhada Colony.

The collision threw both the riders off the scooter and the heavy vehicle ran over Mayur's head and left leg, leading to fatal injuries. Harsh sustained bruises on his hands and legs. The driver of the heavy vehicle fled the scene immediately without offering any assistance.
Onlookers rushed to help and informed police after which the injured were taken Sion Hospital. Doctors at the hospital declared Mayur dead upon arrival. Mayur's family was informed. Police are reviewing CCTV footage in a bid to identify the heavy vehicle. Tnn
