Man booked for derogatory comments against Shivaji

Vasai: A 37-year-old man from Nalasopara was arrested on Friday by the Tulinj police following allegations of making disrespectful remarks about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in a society WhatsApp group.
The incident occurred during a discussion about language-related matters, according to the complainant. Group members initially attempted to address the issue through phone calls and messages, but the accused responded with offensive language and showed no remorse for his statements, police said. The complainant subsequently sought assistance from a social organisation, which attempted a peaceful resolution, but the accused maintained his hostile behaviour, according to the complaint. —Vishal Rajemahadik
