A former Wayfarer Studios employee accused
Justin Baldoni of performative behavior, claiming he promoted "toxic positivity" that felt insincere, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.
A former employee shared that Baldoni encouraged staff to sign emails with affectionate phrases and maintained an overly positive work environment. They felt this approach created an atmosphere of "toxic positivity" and found it insincere, especially coming from someone who presented themselves as a disruptor of the status quo.
Several former employees of Wayfarer Studios raised concerns about workplace issues, including Baldoni’s integration of his Baháʼí Faith into company values. Some felt that his approach had an evangelizing tone, which they considered professionally inappropriate.
A former employee stated that Baháʼí values heavily influenced the company's operations and were frequently discussed. However, Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios responded, asserting that no complaints had been reported about the workplace culture or concerns regarding the founders' platforms.
The statement clarified that any guidance on written communication aimed to maintain professionalism and align with the company’s ethos. It emphasized that Wayfarer values joy and positivity in the workplace and stands by this belief.
