If you are struggling to spot the Swamp Tar in foggy terrain, try to place torches for better visibility. 8 Ash Logs- can be harvested from the Temple Woods.
20 Stone- can be mined in the Bramblemead Valley.
6 Clay- collected in Swamp.
10 Fire Runes- crafted through Runecrafting, or it can be found in the goblin pouches.

The Ash Logs and the Stones are quite common, but the Fire Runes might require a little extra effort. If your Runecrafting level seems to be running low, try to farm the goblins. They occasionally drop the Fire Runes, though not as reliably as crafting them.

Turning Swamp Tar into Adhesive

After the Kiln is set up, the process ahead is quite simple.

Place the Swamp Tar inside the Kiln. No additional fuel is required.
Wait for a few seconds for the refining process.
Collect the Adhesive. Each Swamp tar converts into 1 unit.

As the Kiln works more quickly, mass production of Adhesives is easier. It makes it easier to stockpile the Adhesive for future crafting, especially if one plans on making the Hard Leather or the other high-tier gears.
