Luka Doncic was far from his usual dominant self. The star guard struggled through the game, finishing with just 17 points on 6-16 shooting as the Lakers lost 116-104. While the Timberwolves' defense played a role, Doncic’s performance was clearly hampered by a severe illness that left him vomiting all day.

Los Angeles Lakers head coach
JJ Redick revealed after the game that Luka Doncic had been dealing with stomach issues for over 24 hours. "He hasn't been feeling well for the last 24 hours. I don't know how much he slept last night. He didn't feel well last night. His stomach was bothering him. He was vomiting all afternoon. … He's really under the weather," Redick said in his postgame press conference.
Despite his condition, Doncic played 40 minutes, showing his toughness by staying on the court. However, his lack of energy was evident, especially in the closing moments when the Lakers’ offense stalled.
How Luka Doncic’s sickness affected the Los Angeles Lakers on Game 3
With
Doncic not at full strength, the Lakers’ offense lacked its usual firepower. LeBron James tried to rally the team late in the fourth quarter, but the Timberwolves, led by Anthony Edwards, closed out the game strong. The loss puts the Los Angeles Lakers in a tough spot as they now trail 2-1 in the series.
Can Doncic recover in time for Game 4?
Game 4 is set for Sunday at 3:30 PM ET, giving Luka Doncic just over a day to recover. The Lakers will need him at his best to avoid falling into a 3-1 hole, a deficit that has been overcome before but is far from ideal. LeBron James and Austin Reaves will also need to step up to keep the series competitive.
