Eagles Surprise New Orleans Attack Survivor with Super Bowl Tickets
The Philadelphia Eagles are making their trip to the Super Bowl even more meaningful by bringing along a devoted fan who has faced unimaginable tragedy. Ryan Quigley, a longtime supporter of the team, will be accompanying the Eagles to New Orleans for the championship game on February 9. His journey back to the city, however, carries deep emotional significance.
On January 1, Quigley survived a horrific attack on Bourbon Street, where a pickup truck plowed through the crowded area, killing 14 people, including his best friend, Tiger Bech. The two had shared a lifelong passion for football, having played together at Princeton before moving to Manhattan and remaining inseparable. Bech, a wide receiver, and Quigley, a running back, formed a bond that extended far beyond the field.
The Eagles recognized Quigley’s resilience and unwavering support for the team, inviting him to their facility to share some uplifting news. In an emotional moment captured on video, defensive end Brandon Graham personally informed Quigley that he would be heading to the Super Bowl with them. This invitation was more than just a ticket to the game—it was a moment of healing and remembrance.
Quigley had previously made a promise to Bech that if the Eagles ever returned to the Super Bowl, they would go together. Though devastated by his loss, Quigley remains committed to keeping that promise in spirit. "He would love nothing more than to be there," he expressed, holding back tears. "And I'm going to make sure he's there with us, you know? I'm sharing his story. That's my calling."
Adding to the significance of this tribute, Bech’s sister, Ginnie, was also present at the Eagles’ facility. Overwhelmed with emotion, she described how a tragic memory had been transformed into something truly meaningful. "It's really meant so much," she shared. "Such a negative memory has turned into a really beautiful and cool way to honor my brother's life."
For Quigley, returning to New Orleans was not an easy decision. The pain of that night lingered, and stepping back into the city where he lost his best friend was daunting. However, Graham, understanding the emotional weight, wanted to help Quigley find strength. "I know he said in his mind he didn't want to go back to New Orleans because of what happened ... And I know for me, I wanted to change that for him to conquer his fears."
