Ranji Trophy: Mohammad Azharuddeen’s 149 puts Kerala on top
Kerala's Mohammed Azharuddeen scored a century after seven years, leading his team to 418/7 against Gujarat in their Ranji Trophy semifinal. Azharuddeen, along with Salman Nizar's 52, steadied Kerala's innings after the early dismissal of captain Sachin Baby. Azharuddeen remains unbeaten at 149.

The 30-year-old became the first batter from the state to score a ton in a Ranji semis as Kerala reached 418/7 at stumps here on Tuesday.

Kerala resumed Day 2 on 206/4 with captain Sachin Baby (69 off 195b; 8x4) and Azharuddeen at the crease. Gujarat left-arm pacer Arzan Nagwaswalla dismissed Baby off the second ball of the day, leaving Kerala in a spot of bother.
However, southpaw Salman Nizar 52 and Azharuddeen helped calm nerves, with a 149-run partnership �?the highest in Kerala’s innings so far.
