Karnataka NMMS exam 2025: Results announced for Class 8 students, scholarships awarded
Karnataka NMMS result 2025: The Department of State Educational Research and Training (DSERT) has officially released the Karnataka National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) Result for the 2024-25 academic year. The much-awaited results, declared late Thursday, are now available online at dsert.karnataka.gov.in, bringing relief and excitement to thousands of Class 8 students across the state who appeared for the scholarship exam on February 2, 2025.
The NMMS scholarship scheme, a centrally sponsored initiative by the Ministry of Education, aims to support meritorious students from economically weaker sections by providing financial assistance to continue their secondary education. This year’s results have been published in the form of a district-wise merit list, detailing students’ names, registration numbers, scores in the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), and their total marks. Students can access the PDF merit list by visiting the DSERT website, navigating to the “NTSE/NMMS” section, and selecting their respective districts.
To qualify, general category students needed a minimum of 40% in both MAT and SAT, while reserved category students (SC/ST/PH) required 32%. Those who have cleared the cutoff will receive an annual scholarship of Rs 12,000 (Rs 1,000 monthly), disbursed via the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) into their bank accounts. Selected students are now required to submit bank account details and other documents to their schools for further processing.

The Karnataka NMMS exam, originally scheduled for December 2024, was postponed to January 5 and later held in February due to logistical adjustments. With the results out, parents and students are urged to check the official portal promptly. Education officials have hailed the scheme’s success in reducing dropout rates, with over 1,00,000 scholarships awarded nationwide annually. For more details, visit dsert.karnataka.gov.in.
