Kim Sae Ron’s heartfelt letter to the late ASTRO’s Moonbin reflects her grief and regret

A handwritten letter written by actress Kim Sae Ron to her late friend, ASTRO’s Moonbin, has been made public, revealing her deep sorrow and struggles after his passing. The letter, written in 2023, was shared by the Garo Sero Research Institute and gives an emotional look into her feelings of regret, sadness, and the strong bond they shared.
According to Koreaboo, Kim Sae Ron admitted in her letter that she had thought about ending her own life but changed her mind after hearing about Moonbin’s passing. She expressed how painful his loss was for her and how she wished she had reached out to him on that fateful day. She wondered if a simple phone call could have changed his decision, even for a short while.
She wrote about the struggles they both faced in the entertainment industry and how they often kept their hardships hidden from each other. She recalled their long friendship, which started in childhood when they both began their careers as actors.
Kim Sae Ron also mentioned how Moonbin’s passing deeply affected ASTRO’s members. She described how Cha Eunwoo was heartbroken, while Jinjin and MJ tried to stay strong. She also shared that Sanha promised to protect her, and she felt a responsibility to be there for Moonbin’s sister, Moon Sua, as well as his bandmates.
She explained that, despite her pain, she decided to “postpone” her own suffering so that she could support those Moonbin loved.
“I’ve decided to postpone my death, just a little, because I have to protect Sua and the other members,” she wrote.
Towards the end of the letter, she shared her frustration with the media and the challenges she faced in her own life. However, she made sure to express her love and respect for Moonbin, saying that she believed wherever he was, it must be a bright and peaceful place.
Her final words to him were filled with emotion:
“Rest in peace, Bin. If it’s the path that you’ve taken, wherever it is, I’m sure it’s shining and bright. I respect all your choices and I am cheering you on. I’m sorry for not being able to compliment you endlessly and for not being able to hug you. I love you. See you soon. Wait for me.”
Kim Sae Ron and Moonbin had a friendship that lasted 18 years, supporting each other throughout their careers. His passing on April 19, 2023, deeply affected her, and her letter serves as a heartfelt tribute to their unbreakable bond.
