WWE is reportedly planning to bring back its all-women special event, Evolution, which was a huge moment for Women's Wrestling when the first edition took place in 2018.
WWE has elevated the women's wrestling scene in the last few years. This has led to female WWE superstars getting more TV time, being a part of top and significant storylines, and even main eventing their premier show twice, WrestleMania, first in 2019 and then in 2021.
The company took the revolution one step further by producing the first-ever all-women pay-per-view show, WWE Evolution, back in 2018. Now, there have been reports of the global juggernaut resurrecting the event for its second edition.
Is WWE planning to produce Evolution 2.0?
According to a report by PWN, the Stamford-based promotion is planning to bring back WWE Evolution as a Premium Live Event. The report further added while there is no locked date at the moment, the tentative one is said to July 5th with the event taking place at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut.
The report stated, “WWE is looking to host an *Evolution* PLE in the near future. Everything on the schedule is still tentative, but it’s currently set for 7/5 at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. We will share more updates as things get confirmed, so stay tuned.”
WWE hosted the first edition of Evolution in 2018. The event emanated from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, in Uniondale, New York. It featured WWE female stars from the past and present such as Trish Stratus, Lita, Alexa Bliss, Rhea Ripley and Mickie James. The event was headlined by two top-tier matches.
The first one saw Becky Lynch defeating Charlotte Flair in a Last Man Standing match to retain her SmackDown Women's Championship. On the other side, Ronda Rousey successfully defended her RAW Women's title against Nikki Bella with her sister, Brie, in her corner.
Moreover, if WWE is actually gearing up to host another Evolution event in 2025, the fans can once again expect a stacked lineup of women from the past and present to appear at the event. So it will interesting to see it happen on much bigger level as a WWE Premium Live Event this year.
