MJF could have had some of the most memorable showdowns had he decided to sign with WWE in 2024 instead of remaining in AEW.
MJF had risen to become one of the most popular and captivating heels in AEW. The Salt of the Earth became a cornerstone for Tony Khan's promotion and won multiple titles. Not only that, MJF also headlines various pay-per-views and battles some of the biggest names in wrestling, such as Adam Cole, CM Punk, and Chris Jericho. However, some time before his last AEW contract came to an end, MJF began teasing signing with WWE.
He called it the 'Bidding War of 2024.' Despite major hype and even cutting a shoot promo at AEW, MJF chose to re-sign with them. However, had the Devil decided to make the switch to the global juggernaut at the time, here are the three top matches that could have made him into a big star in WWE.
3. John Cena
MJF is known to be one of the top mic workers in the history of professional wrestling in the modern era. However, had he decided to join WWE in 2024, he could have found himself standing toe-to-toe with the master of the microphone, John Cena. An altercation could have happened that year, and this feud could have been revisited in 2025 when Cena began his farewell tour.. The 17-time WWE Champion could give a huge rub to the rising star in MJF and it would have solidified him as a major star in WWE.
2. Seth Rollins
Seth Rollins is one of the most talented and total package WWE superstars of all time. The Visionary can handle a microphone, put up a top-quality match, and captivate the audience like no other. Moreover, if MJF had joined WWE in 2024, a feud with Rollins could have been exciting and evenly matched. Rollins is known to stand firm against various narcissistic stars. In fact, he was one himself a long time back. Therefore, the new Paul Heyman Guy would have been an exceptional opponent for MJF if he had not chosen to re-sign with AEW.
1. The Miz
The one superstar whom fans have compared MJF to a lot after seeing his AEW stint is WWE's Awesome One, The Miz. The A-Lister has been a veteran of the company and is highly regarded for his promo skills. That led to the comparisons for MJF in AEW. Moreover, CM Punk himself called MJF 'a less famous Miz' at one time. Therefore, this would have been the culmination of the ultimate dream match coming true in WWE if MJF had signed on the dotted line last year.
