“Absolutely True…”, Elon Musk responds to an old video of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs

Elon Musk continues to champion Steve Jobs's leadership philosophy. A resurfaced video clip shows Jobs criticizing "professional managers" at Apple, favoring individual contributors who stepped up. Musk wholeheartedly agreed, echoing past praise for Jobs's focus on execution over mere ideas. Jobs, in a separate older clip, highlighted the misconception that great ideas alone guarantee success, a sentiment Musk firmly endorsed.
“Absolutely True…”, Elon Musk responds to an old video of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs
Elon Musk has, once again, expressed admiration for Steve Jobs. He has shared, reshared and commented upon several videos of the Apple co-founder, and in the latest video, he has recognised Jobs as a pioneering figure in the tech industry.
A video shared by an X user shows Jobs talking about “best managers” and how the company was ‘wrong’ in hiring professional managers.
“At Apple, we thought hiring professional managers would make us a big company. It didn’t work—most were bozos who could manage but couldn’t do anything else,” Jobs is seen speaking in the clip shared on X.
“The best managers? Great individual contributors who never wanted the job but took it because they knew no one else could do it as well,” he added.

Musk reshared the video, saying that what Jobs is speaking is “Absolutely True”.

Elon Musk has praised Steve Jobs in the past

This is not the first time that Musk has praised Jobs’ philosophy and working style. Earlier this year, Musk shared a 20-year-old video of Jobs on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting Jobs' insights on the importance of execution and teamwork in bringing ideas to life.
In the 1995 video clip, Jobs discusses a common pitfall he observed after leaving Apple: the misconception that a great idea alone guarantees success.

“One of the things that really hurt Apple was after I left, John Sculley got a very serious disease, and that disease... I've seen other people get it, too. It's the disease of thinking that a really great idea is 90% of the work, and that if you just tell all these other people, 'Here is this great idea, then, of course, they can go off and make it happen'.,” Jobs is seen saying in the video.
Musk agreed and wrote, "Precisely."
