Apple opened its first two stores in India in April 2023 – Apple BKC and Apple Saket in Mumbai and Delhi, respectively. Now, the
iPhone maker is reportedly planning to expand its presence in the country with four more Apple stores. According to a report by Money Control, Apple stores are coming to Bengaluru, Pune and Delhi-NCR in the next phase of retail expansion, along with a new outlet in Mumbai.
The report quotes Deirdre O'Brien, Apple's senior vice-president of retail: "Our stores are incredible places to experience the magic of Apple, and it's been wonderful to deepen our connection with our customers in India. We're thrilled to build our teams as we plan to open more stores in India, because we're inspired by the creativity and passion of our customers across this country”
“We can't wait for them to have even more opportunities to discover and shop for our amazing products and services, and connect with our extraordinary, knowledgeable team members," he added.
Made-in India iPhone 16 series phones to be available soon
Apple has confirmed that the entire iPhone 16 lineup, including the Pro and Pro Max models will be manufactured in India. The Cupertino-based company is manufacturing the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max in India through its contract manufacturing partners, Foxconn and Pegatron. As per reports, Foxconn is making iPhone 16, 16 Plus, and Pro Max models. Tata Electronics is reportedly making iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models, while Pegatron is making iPhone 16, 16 Plus, and 16 Pro models.
The made-in-India iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will be available for local customers and for export to select countries soon.
To recall, Apple began manufacturing iPhones in India in 2017. Other than the new generation iPhones, the company is also making older generation iPhones – iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, and iPhone 13.
